About Alabama Church School
Thanks so much for your interest in the Alabama Church School! We look forward to covering your children through their home education journey. ACS was founded in Alabama by the Baker Family and we have been educating under the cover of a Church School for over 20 years. We love it and wouldn't want it any other way.
We're a cover (umbrella) school that provides parents with a legal avenue to home-educate their children in the State of Alabama. ACS was established to provide cover for ourselves initially and we branched out to help provide cover for families who are a member of a church that doesn't have a cover school.
We wholeheartedly feel that all parents should have the same opportunity to educate their children via a church school without having to be a member of a specific church. ACS is a Christian home-based church school providing administrative assistance, family-based off-site, non-public instruction opportunities for grades K-12 to Alabama families pursuant to the code of Alabama.

Alabama Church School operates under our church, ACS Virtual Church — a faith community dedicated to supporting families through faith and education. Our church provides the spiritual covering and ministry oversight under which our schools operate, allowing us to serve homeschooling families with a structured, Christ-centered education.
ACS Virtual Church is also associated with The Universal Church of Life, under whose authority our ministry is officially recognized. ACS is a Christian fellowship with like-minded believers — no signed Statement of Faith is required.

We Support Every Learning Style
We support and encourage parents to take total responsibility for their children's education in whatever way is best for them. Not all kids are the same — some learn at a faster pace and some learn completely differently than others. This is what makes home education under a church cover school such a benefit. We support a parent's right to choose the best type of home education: Unschooling, Eclectic, Traditional, Secular, and more.
How to Enroll
Getting started is simple. Here's what you need to know.

Complete Enrollment
Fill out the enrollment forms online through our portal. You can enroll at ANY time of the year.
Submit Payment
Pay securely online via PayPal, Autobooks, Cash App, or Zelle. New enrollment is $149, re-enrollment is $99/year.
Get Your Signed Forms
We'll sign and return your church school enrollment forms to submit to your local B.O.E. superintendent.
Ready to Enroll?
No per-child fees. No add-child fees. No late fees. Full K-12 curriculum included.
Forms should be sent by August 15th each year, but you can enroll anytime.
Adult Diploma Program
For adults 18+ — earn your high school diploma through our self-paced program. Includes grades 6-12 curriculum, final exams, diploma, and transcripts.
Important Reminders
- Never take unsigned paperwork to the school or the B.O.E.
- Never leave any information off of the paperwork.
- Do not withdraw your child from their previous school until they are enrolled in ACS.
- Never discuss any aspect of your child's education with anyone being nosy, for any reason.
HSLDA Membership Recommended
We highly recommend joining HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association). Your membership helps defend the right to homeschool in Alabama. ACS members save $15 on the annual HSLDA membership!

Alabama Church School Laws
Your rights as a homeschool family under Alabama law

16-28-1 — Church School Definition
The term church school shall mean and only include such schools as offer instruction in grades K-12 and are operated as a ministry of a local church, group of churches, denomination, and/or association of churches on a nonprofit basis which do not receive any state or federal funding.
16-28-3 — Attendance Requirements
Every child between the ages of 7 and 16 shall be required to attend public school, private school, church school, or be instructed by a competent private tutor. Every child attending a church school is exempt from the requirements of this section.
16-1-11 — Private School Registration
All private schools shall register annually with the department of education, except church schools as defined in Section 16-28-1. Church schools are not under the jurisdiction of the State Board of Education.
What You're NOT Required To Do

- Report to your local school board
- Use the English language exclusively
You ARE required to: Keep an attendance register showing enrollment and every absence for a half-day or more during each school day of the year (Code of Alabama 1975 §16-28-8).
